What is CLEANTECH ??Clean Technology or "Cleantech" is relatively new term and is used to describe companies that use innovative technology to create products and services that compete favorably on price and performance, while reducing mankind’s impact on the environment. Some "clean technologies" are also common environmental technologies, such as wastewater treatment equipment, but the idea is much broader than that. The concept of Cleantech is all about resource efficiency and forward thinking in the 21st century. Worldwide efforts to address climate change, energy security and water management are headline news and there are numerous national and international agendas to effect positive change. These factors combine to make cleantech an exciting growth area that will continue to attract increasing levels of attention and investment in the coming years. As an industry grouping, cleantech encompasses a broad range of products and services - from giant offshore wind towers to membranes for water treatment to environmentally friendly consumer products such as solar powered milk frothers for your morning coffee. Some cleantech sectors, such as wind & solar power or biofuels, are well established. Billions of dollars of research spending, environmental legislation and real investor interest have combined to produce hundreds of successful companies in these areas. Other cleantech sectors are emerging: environmentally focused nanotechnology and solid oxide fuel cells offer exciting prospects for early stage investors. Investment interest in clean technologies is steadily growing. Recent advances in technology, research methods, manufacturing, and communications are all lowering the costs of environmentally sound technologies, bringing many into the economic mainstream.
